Glacier Changes Analysis

This analysis examines changes in the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina over a 5-year period using satellite imagery and remote sensing in Google Earth Engine (GEE). Sentinel-2 images from 2018/19 and 2024 were processed to calculate the false color and the Normalized Difference Snow Index (NDSI) index for 2018/19. Also, it was generated a true-color image for 2024.

The results provide a visual representation of changes in glacier cover over time, highlighting areas of increase and decrease. Additionally, false color image helps to illustrate the direction of ice flow in the region, and the NDSI which is used to detect snow and distinguish it from other elements like water or clouds.
